Delivery & Flag-Off Ceremony Of Two Marine Ambulance Boat For Kerala State Fisheries Department.
Smt. J. Mercykutty Amma, Hon’ble Minister for Fisheries, Harbor Engineering & Cashew Industry, Govt. of Kerala flagged off the two (02) Marine Ambulances named “Prathyasa” and “Karunya” built by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), for the Department of Fisheries, Govt. of Kerala, on Thursday 28 January 2021at CSL, in a function presided by Shri T J Vinod, MLA along withShri Hibi Eden MP , Shri John Fernandez MLA, Shri K J Maxi, MLA, Shri S Sarma, MLA and Shri Madhu S Nair, Chairman and Managing Director of Cochin Shipyard. Senior Officials from State Fisheries Department, CSL, representatives of CIFT & Indian Register of Shipping also attended the function. The first vessel of the series was handed over to the Government in August 2020.
The Ambulance Boats have an over-all length of 23.80 Mtr, width of about 6.0 Mtr and is powered by Two (02) Nos. 515 KW Scania Marine Propulsion Engines for attaining a maximum speed of 14 knots. The vessel is fully Designed & constructed in-house by CSL, in line with the requirements of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). The vessel is of high quality and fuel-efficient. CFD analysis and Model Test was done at IIT Chennai to optimize fuel efficiency and firming up the power requirement. 3-D Modeling of the boat was carried out in-house to improve ergonomics and layout.
The vessel can accommodate Two (02) patients, Two (02) Paramedical staff and Nine (09) operating crew. The vessel also has various paramedical facilities like examination and nursing room with toilet, medical bed, mortuary freezer, refrigerator, pantry and medical lockers. There is a Jason’s cradle to safely rescue people from sea. Marine ambulances will be used for the rescue and instant treatment to the marine fishermen in distress as well as for normal patrolling.
